Pretty In Pink by tundra-timmy Pretty In Pink by tundra-timmy
Ah, the iconic Ford Ranchero, all dressed up in pink and looking so goooood for the local admirers. She's a 1957 of course. The best year.

We're asking for permission for use of '57 Ford photos of as many models as possible. If you're happy to contribute, please flick me a note.

Canadian model. And, with this, Ford beat Chevy by two years in bringing out a car based pickup. Of course, Ford cheated, as they had heard of the Chevy Elcamino project, which launched in '59 and Ford took a '57 Ranch wagon and did a quick conversion to make a pickup, thereby getting ahead in the market

Under the bed floor, you'll still find the Ranch Wagon floor pressing, which made these popular for smuggling as the footwells for the Ranch Wagon rear seats were still there. Also, the tailgate was just the wagon tailgate without the glass. Those little eyebrows above the headlights are not supposed to be chromed - that should be paint finish.
The doors were the same as the two-door (Tudor in Ford speak) Custom  and Custom 300. Very nice long doors - a good foot longer than the Fordor front doors.

I had a '57 Ranchero for several years and I never realized the panels in the bed floor gave you access to the original seat floor pans. Canadian, eh? I wondered why the grill was different. Thanks for the info!

I had one too, but it was a "project car" which I sold again. Yes, not just the grille - the side chrome detail was different too - see the little trim at the rear of the front fender?

Oh ya, it almost resembles the '58 American moldings.
